Sentencing for Tacoma judge who paid prostitute

The prosecutor in the case against Pierce County Superior Court Michael Hecht is asking for the maximum 90-day sentence.

The Associated Press

TACOMA, Wash. —

The prosecutor in the case against Pierce County Superior Court Michael Hecht is asking for the maximum 90-day sentence.

Assistant State Attorney General John Hillman calls Hecht an unrepentant criminal who blames his conviction on those who disclosed his activities with prostitutes.

Hecht was convicted earlier this month of patronizing a prostitute and threatening to kill another man.

The News Tribune of Tacoma reports that Hecht's supporters at Thursday's sentencing say he deserves a break because he has already lost his job, which paid $148,000 a year.

Hecht said the case against him was a vendetta by political opponents. He plans to appeal.
