Death penalty decision for Skagit killing spree

Prosecutors say they will not seek the death penalty against a man accused of killing six people, including a sheriff's deputy, in a Skagit County shooting rampage last year.

MOUNT VERNON, Wash. —

Prosecutors say they will not seek the death penalty against a man accused of killing six people, including a sheriff's deputy, in a Skagit County shooting rampage last year.

Skagit County Prosecutor Rich Weyrich (WY'-rik) announced the decision Tuesday.

Defense attorneys cited Issac Zamora's history of mental illness in asking Weyrich not to seek execution.
