Wrong-way driver

A 42-year-old Auburn man was in serious condition at Harborview Medical Center after the 1993 Subaru Legacy he was driving was struck at 3:16 a.m. Thursday by a wrong-way driver.

Ivan R. Allen, 25, of Soda Springs, Idaho, was driving a 2001 Toyota Tacoma for about 1 ½ miles the wrong way on westbound Highway 18 before colliding head-on with Logan's Subaru, according to the Washington State Patrol. Allen was taken to Harborview with minor injuries. Allen, who was arrested, is being investigated for vehicular assault, the state patrol reported.
