Power restored at Seattle Center

Power has been restored at Seattle Center. Theater performances that were scheduled tonight will go on with the exception of the Seattle Repertory Theater, which has canceled its performance of "Opus."
The Pacific Northwest Ballet performance has been delayed until 8 p.m., however.
Earlier today some 6,000 to 7,000 City Light customers on Lower Queen Anne, including portions of Seattle Center, went without electricity for periods. City Light officials said it repaired the 5 a.m. outage, but about 340 customers lost power again at about 11:30 a.m. when a switch failed. The utility restored power by 1 p.m.
A small fire in an electrical room near McCaw Hall is being blamed for the first outage and parts of Seattle Center were closed as of late this morning.
To make time for repairs, power to about 360 customers was cut at about 3 p.m. and restored just past 7:15 p.m., said Suzanne Hartman, a City Light spokeswoman. That outage affected the Seattle Center, two apartment buildings and up to 70 businesses adjacent to the Seattle Center, Hartman said.
The Center House School was closed all day and a matinee at the Children's Theater was canceled, said Deborah Daoust, a Seattle Center spokeswoman.
Daoust said the Space Needle has its own power system and was not affected by the outages. The Pacific Science Center was also unaffected.
