Lt. governor's son out of hospital
The son of Lt. Gov. Brad Owen was discharged from Harborview Medical Center on Tuesday, but police are still trying to understand what led the co-owner of an auto-painting business to shoot him and then himself.
The son of Lt. Gov. Brad Owen was discharged from Harborview Medical Center on Tuesday, but police are still trying to understand what led the co-owner of an auto-painting business to shoot him and then himself.
Kent police interviewed Mark Owen, 37, again, about the circumstances that led Carlos Fernandez, president and co-owner of KBP & Fabrications, to shoot Owen on Monday. They also served search warrants for the business and Fernandez's car.
Fernandez, 63, remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Owen has been minority owner, bookkeeper and business adviser with KBP for three years. Monday, he and Fernandez met, then argued before Fernandez shot Owen, then himself.
Fernandez is a hunting partner and longtime friend of Lt. Gov. Owen's.
"At this point what we have been able to determine is that it's a business dispute," said Kent police Lt. Lisa Price. "The facts of that dispute we're still trying to determine."
