The Associated Press
Vice President Joe Biden will speak at Fort Lewis today during a memorial ceremony for seven Stryker brigade soldiers killed in Afghanistan.
The ceremony is expected to begin about 1 p.m. and honor the seven that were killed when their vehicle hit a concealed bomb in southern Afghanistan two weeks ago.
The News Tribune of Tacoma reports that Biden was spotted in Tacoma on Monday. The newspaper says it will be the first time a U.S. president or vice president has participated in any of the memorial services for the fallen soldiers since the beginning of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
