Wash. parents don't want boy charged with arson

The parents of a boy charged with burning down their Rock Island home have told authorities they don't want the 14-year-old living with them.

The Associated Press

WATERVILLE, Wash. —

The parents of a boy charged with burning down their Rock Island home have told authorities they don't want the 14-year-old living with them.

The boy was charged Wednesday with first-degree arson in Douglas County Superior Court. The fire destroyed 70 percent of his father's and stepmother's Rock Island home on Oct. 28.

The Wenatchee World reports the boy is being held in the Chelan County Juvenile Detention Center. The boy's defense attorney, Justin Titus, told the court his parents are not willing to have him in their care. Titus entered a plea of not guilty for the boy on Wednesday and he will be held in the juvenile facility unless someone posts a $25,000 cash bond.
