Man held in transient's death

A 46-year-old homeless man was apparently beaten to death at a Seattle transient camp Wednesday, according to Seattle police, who have arrested a suspect.

A worker mowing the grass along Airport Way South discovered the man's body, police spokeswoman Renee Witt said.

Officers interviewed transients in the area and arrested a 43-year-old man at another transient camp within an hour, and he was later booked into the King County Jail, Witt said.

The King County Medical Examiner's Office has not released the man's name.
