The Port Townsend-Keystone ferry service will be canceled beginning Wednesday evening. The last sailing will be the 7:30 p.m. sailing from Port Townsend.
All sailings are canceled on Thursday because crews need to rebuild a generator on the Steilacoom II, the ferry that operates between the two ports.
Customers need to use the Edmonds/Kingston route for travel between the Olympic Peninsula and Whidbey Island. The estimated return to service is Friday morning.
In other news about the Port Townsend-Kingston crossing, Pierce County has agreed to let the ferry service continue to lease the Steilacoom II while the state finishes building a new ferry for the route.
The original lease with Pierce County expired in August, but it will be extended for 12 months, with the possibility of another extension.
