SEATTLE —

The Washington basketball team opens the preseason at home Wednesday night against Central Washington University.

With Jon Brockman gone, the Huskies are looking for leadership this season from Quincy Pondexter, the only senior on the team leading nine freshman and sophomores.

Coach Lorenzo Romar last year's Pac-10 freshman of the year, Isaiah Thomas, also is drawing attention to the defending conference champions.
