Fire at Moses Lake silicon plant

Fire has broken out inside the REC Silicon plant, which is two miles east of Moses Lake.

MOSES LAKE, Wash. —

Fire has broken out inside the REC Silicon plant, which is two miles east of Moses Lake.

Grant County Emergency Management said the fire is under control and there has been no chemical release. No injuries are reported.

The fire is being handled by the company's own firefighters.

People who live near the plant have been getting telephone messages informing them of the fire and telling them to stand by should the situation change.

REC Silicon produces silicon and wafers for solar applications.
