Lake Stevens officer kills man who broke into home

Police say the man killed by police after breaking into a Lake Stevens home apparently was carrying two guns.

LAKE STEVENS, Wash. —

Police say the man killed by police after breaking into a Lake Stevens home apparently was carrying two guns.

Police said Monday that one weapon was found on the man and the other nearby.

Two officers responded to a report of a disturbance about 8 p.m. Sunday and confronted the man at the home where he was shot.

The shooting is under investigation by the Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team. Spokesman Robert Goetz of the Everett Police Department says the intruder and people in the home knew each other.

The Lake Stevens officer who fired the fatal shot is 23 years old and a three-year veteran of the department.
