Stop by the Seattle Animal Shelter to learn about the role it plays in the community and how you can help the animals during National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week, Nov. 1-7.

During the coming week, the shelter is offering free dog and cat food to pet owners in need.

Pet food is available first-come, first-served while supplies last, with a limit of two bags per household.

The Seattle Animal Shelter, at 2061 15th Ave. W., is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays-Sundays. For more information, call 206-386-7387 or go to www.seattleanimalshelter.org.
