I-90 road work ends between Lake Easton, Cle Elum
Motorists driving on Interstate 90 east of Snoqualmie Pass will face an easier trip as the state Department of Transportation and contractors finish construction on the first phase of the Lake Easton to near Cle Elum project.
Motorists driving on Interstate 90 east of Snoqualmie Pass will face an easier trip as the Washington State Department of Transportation and contractors finish construction on the first phase of a project between Lake Easton and Cle Elum.
The $18.4 million concrete rehabilitation project is one of five federally-funded projects on I-90 this year.
"We appreciated drivers' patience as we worked to make I-90 east of Snoqualmie Pass a safer, more reliable interstate," said WSDOT Regional Administrator Don Whitehouse.
WSDOT and contractor crews replaced approximately 4 ½ miles of the right-hand concrete lane and asphalt shoulders of westbound I-90 between Easton (milepost 70) and Cle Elum (milepost 80). Crews also either replaced or ground sections of severely deteriorated concrete panels in the left lane and upgraded safety features such as guardrails and striping.
Next year, WSDOT will replace the remaining three miles in that area. When that project is completed by midsummer, WSDOT will begin replacing approximately 10 miles of concrete roadway eastbound in the same vicinity.
