Western lawmakers focus on regional collaboration

Lawmakers from many western states say it would make sense for them to collaborate on developing the technology to capture and store carbon that's generated from burning fossil fuels.

Lawmakers from many western states say it would make sense for them to collaborate on developing the technology to capture and store carbon that's generated from burning fossil fuels.

The state of Wyoming invited lawmakers from around the West to Jackson for a symposium that wraps up Tuesday.

So far, the group has focused mainly on their mutual challenges. Many agree that the process for locating new power lines needs to be streamlined.

They intend to hammer out a collective vision for energy development in the West.

States that sent legislators to participate in the event include: Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.
