Woman's body washes up on Wash. beach

GRAYLAND, Wash. —

The Grays Harbor County sheriff's office is investigating after a woman's body washed onto a beach near Grayland on the Washington coast.

Undersheriff Rick Scott said the body of a woman believed to be in her 40s was reported Friday morning. He says investigators believe the body had been in the water less than 24 hours - and debris that also washed ashore suggests a boating mishap may have been involved.

The sheriff's office says there have been no recent reports of missing or overdue vessels in the area.

An autopsy is planned. Detectives hope the woman's tattoos and scars will help them identify her.
