Body found in Monroe home believed to be that of missing man
A decomposed body found in a Monroe house earlier this week is believed to be that of a man family members had reported missing in August.
A decomposed body found in a Monroe house earlier this week may be that of a man family members had reported missing in August.
Police found the body with a rifle beside it in a bathroom on Tuesday.
Debbie Willis, spokeswoman for Monroe police, said the death is still under investigation. The Snohomish County Medical Examiner's Office has not positively identified the victim, but he is believed to the home's 50-year-old owner.
The man's father reported him missing to the Edmonds police in August and said he hadn't seen his son since October 2008. Monroe police said they had no information about the missing man Tuesday when they ran a check on a car parked in the home's garage.
Police were summoned when a contractor hired to winterize the house reported a foul smell.
The home had been barricaded from inside and sheets covered all the windows, Willis said.
