Huskies ready for basketball rivalry with Gonzaga

Washington has proposed resuming its cross-state men's basketball rivalry with Gonzaga for three years at Seattle's KeyArena beginning next season.

SEATTLE —

Washington has proposed resuming its cross-state men's basketball rivalry with Gonzaga for three years at Seattle's KeyArena beginning next season.

Huskies athletics department spokesman Richard Kilwien confirmed Wednesday that the defending Pac-10 champions have sent the proposal to the perennial champion of the West Coast Conference and are waiting to hear back from the private school in Spokane.

Washington is proposing an even split in ticket allocation and all revenues from the games at the former home of the NBA's now-departed Seattle SuperSonics.

The two teams who compete for Evergreen State recruits last played in December 2006 in Spokane.
