Big Sky Conference acknowledges referee errors

The Big Sky Conference says that referees made two wrong calls during Montana's 41-34 win over Eastern Washington.

HELENA, Mont. —

The Big Sky Conference says that referees made two wrong calls during Montana's 41-34 win over Eastern Washington.

The league released a statement Tuesday from its Ogden, Utah headquarters saying two calls during the game were "troubling," although it did not say whether they affected the game's outcome.

Late in the third quarter an Eastern Washington receiver was called for unsportsmanlike conduct as he slowed down on his way to the end zone. The league said the penalty was unwarranted.

In the fourth quarter, an Eastern Washington player was called for a late hit out of bounds. However, the league said the penalized player was illegally blocked into a Montana player out of bounds.
