Snohomish County passes mobile home zoning

The Snohomish County Council has passed a zoning measure aimed at protecting mobile home parks from redevelopment.

The Associated Press

EVERETT, Wash. —

The Snohomish County Council has passed a zoning measure aimed at protecting mobile home parks from redevelopment.

The measure passed Wednesday would keep 28 parks as they are in unincorporated residentially zoned parts of the county. Parks in rural or commercial areas are not affected.

John Woodring, an attorney for a group of park owners, strongly objected, saying it shifts the burden for affordable housing to one class of land owners. The group has filed a federal lawsuit challenging a similar mobile home park zone in Tumwater, and Woodring tells The Herald of Everett that it might also go to court to challenge Snohomish County's decision.
