A small rockslide closed the North Cascades Highway in both directions for about an hour this afternoon between mileposts 145 and 146, close to Diablo and the Skagit-Whatcom county line, according to the state Department of Transportation.

The rockslide on Highway 20 occurred shortly after 2 p.m., and work crews had the highway reopened just after 3 p.m., state DOT spokeswoman Bronlea Mishler said.

"Our maintenance crews got up there and pushed the rocks off the road," she said.

The cause of the slide was unknown.
