Small business owners advocate for health care reform

The Washington Small Business for Secure Health Care Coalition pushes for change in the health care system.

On Oct. 12, the Washington Small Business for Secure Health Care Coalition held a forum and canvassing event pushing for change in the health care system. The group advocates for a public option plan.

For the event, Rep. Jay Inslee D-Bainbridge Island spoke at Fuel Coffee shop in Wallingford about the vulnerability of small business owners to costly and unaffordable health insurance.

"The current system that we have is unsustainable in America for small business people," Inslee said. "Something has to change."

Business owners also told stories about their inability to buy their employees adequate health insurance and about quickly rising premiums. Similar events were held in Tacoma, Everett and Olympia.
