A 55-year-old Seattle man was killed Wednesday afternoon when he lost control of his motorcycle and slid under a pickup on Highway 101, about a mile south of Cannon Beach, Ore.

Oregon State Police said Alan Gelvin was riding a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle when he lost control in a curve about 3:20 p.m. He slid into the oncoming traffic lane and under a 2000 Toyota Tacoma pickup, police said. The 62-year-old pickup driver and his 59-year-old wife were not seriously injured, police said.

The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet, police said.
