Body of Longview man found in Columbia River

A Longview man who vanished after swimming into the Columbia River to retrieve his boat has been found dead.

LONGVIEW, Wash. —

A Longview man who vanished after swimming into the Columbia River to retrieve his boat has been found dead.

Cowlitz County sheriff's Capt. Mark Nelson says the body of 39-year-old Ronald Ringbom was discovered Tuesday afternoon off the north side of Fisher Island, west of Longview.

Ringbom was presumed to have drowned after he went into the water Saturday while he and his son were goose hunting. He disappeared while trying to recover his boat as it drifted away from the island.

A search over the weekend was unsuccessful, but Nelson says relatives who continued the effort found his body floating in the channel.
