A woman was hit by an Amtrak train about 5 p.m. this evening near Edmonds.

The train had just left Seattle, bound for Chicago, an Amtrak spokeswoman said. After she was hit, the woman was brought onboard and taken to Edmonds, where paramedics met the train, the spokeswoman said.

KING-TV reports that two women were walking four dogs near the tracks, and one of the women and one of the dogs was hit.

The dog died, and the women was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, the TV station said.
