Bedbugs move in at Longview homeless shelter

Bedbugs have infested the Community House homeless shelter in Longview, and officials are scratching their heads over how to evict the little bloodsuckers.

Director Rich Kirk says about a fourth of the 82 residents have bites.

He told The Daily News of Longview the shelter has already replaced some mattresses and is ordering plastic covers for 150 mattresses and box springs. Residents are being treated with calamine lotion.

It could take months and cost more than $10,000 for a pest-control company to treat the building.
