Lake Roesiger development plan is deleted
The Snohomish County Council voted to remove a controversial development known as fully contained communities from its comprehensive plan Wednesday.
The 3-2 vote removed the option of a type of dense residential development in rural areas. Council members Mike Cooper, Dave Somers and Brian Sullivan voted to eliminate the development option. John Koster and Dave Gossett voted against removing them.
A fully contained community had been proposed for the Lake Roesiger area but was opposed by many local residents. The proposal would have allowed development of as many as 6,000 homes west of Lake Roesiger, a sparsely populated area about 10 miles from Monroe and Snohomish.
