Monday marked the first "significant" rain in Seattle since May 19

A quarter inch of rain fell in Seattle overnight, the first significant rainfall since May 19, according to the National Weather Service.

"I forgot how to drive in the rain when coming to work today," said meteorologist Charlie Ironmonger.

He said the forecast calls for the rain to taper off today, setting the stage for a nice weekend.

From midnight through 6 p.m. Monday, Seattle had its first "measurable" rain since mid-July of .03 inch.
