A drive-by shooting in Seattle's South Park neighborhood early Sunday stemmed from a gang rivalry, according to King County prosecutors.
Four men and a teenage boy were arrested for investigation of assault and drive-by shooting. The suspects are a 19-year-old from Burien, a 24-year-old from Seattle, an 18-year-old from Seattle, an 18-year-old from Seattle and a 16-year-old boy from Seattle.
The 16-year-old boy told police the group got into an argument with several men at a South Park gas station about 20 minutes before the shooting, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in King County Superior Court. The five believed that the other men, members of a rival gang, had been "messing with" one of their relatives, court papers said.
Seattle police were called to a home in the 1000 block of South Sullivan Street around midnight after somebody inside a white GMC drove past and opened fire, the probable cause affidavit said.
One man was shot in the lower back and taken to Harborview Medical Center.
A few minutes later police stopped the GMC on Interstate 5. Inside were the four men and the 16-year-old boy. Police found at least two semi-automatic pistols inside the vehicle, the affidavit said.
