Man shot dead by Snohomish County deputy near Lake Stevens

A man was shot and killed by a Snohomish County deputy at a truck weigh station on Highway 9 near Lake Stevens Thursday night.

A man was shot and killed by a Snohomish County deputy at a truck weigh station on Highway 9 near Lake Stevens Thursday night.

According to Everett Police, a passing motorist flagged down the deputy and reported an erratic driver in the area. The deputy found the driver at the truck scales, a fight broke out and the deputy shot the unidentified man.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to police, a handgun not belonging to the deputy, was found at the scene. The 33-year-old deputy, who was not named, has been with the sheriff's office for two years. He was placed on paid administrative leave following the shooting.

Deputies have impounded the truck and will obtain a search warrant to search it.
