Missing Edmonds man found in Columbia River

Police have recovered the body of an Edmonds man missing since Saturday on the Columbia River.

Police have recovered the body of an Edmonds man missing since Saturday on the Columbia River.

The body of Steven Frausto was found 17 miles north of Orondo, Douglas County, near Wenatchee. He was found by fish-and-wildlife biologists from the Chelan County public-utilities district, who were on a boat doing a bird survey.

Frausto was reported missing Saturday after he apparently fell from a boat on the river south of Beebe Bridge while out with friends from the Stevens Pass ski team.

According to Douglas County Undersheriff Don Culp, Frausto had been drinking and wasn't feeling well, so he went to sleep in the back of the boat.

He later moved to the front of the boat and apparently fell off unnoticed.
