Deputy won't be prosecuted for shove that injured man

King County prosecutors will not file criminal charges against a sheriff's deputy who slammed a man into a wall so hard after a foot chase that he was left in a coma.
"It's a tragic incident, but there is no legal basis for a criminal charge," said Dan Donohoe, spokesman for Prosecutor Dan Satterberg,
Christopher Harris, 29, of Edmonds, was placed on life support after the incident. His current condition was not immediately known.
A witness incorrectly identified Harris to deputies as a suspect in a bar brawl May 10 in Seattle's Belltown neighborhood. When deputies approached him, Harris fled, according to Sheriff's Office spokesman Sgt. John Urquhart.
The deputies chased Harris. As Harris slowed to a walk, deputy Matthew Paul, 26, slammed Harris into a concrete wall outside of a Belltown theater.
A surveillance camera outside the Cinerama movie theater at Lenora Street and Fourth Avenue captured footage of the incident.
An investigation by the Sheriff's Office found that Paul gave Harris a "hard shove" that apparently fell within legal boundaries.
"We look at this as a tragic accident; nothing more than that," Urquhart has said.
Prosecutors had looked into the incident to determine whether the deputy's actions were criminal.
