Amazon sued over Kindle deletion of Orwell books
It seemed Orwellian enough when Amazon.com deleted the books "1984," "Animal Farm" and other books purchased by Kindle owners. Now the online retailer is being sued by two buyers, one of them a high school student who says his notes on the books were rendered useless.

It seemed Orwellian enough when Amazon.com deleted the books "1984," "Animal Farm" and other books purchased by Kindle owners. Now the online retailer is being sued by two buyers, one of them a high school student who says his notes on the books were rendered useless.
The lawsuit seeking class-action status was filed Thursday in U.S. District Court in Seattle on behalf of 17-year-old Justin D. Gawronski of Macomb, Mich., and Antoine J. Bruguier of Milpitas, Calif.
Gawronski purchased "1984" for a summer homework assignment. He says that when Amazon deleted the book from his electronic reading and without warning, his notes were rendered useless because they no longer could be linked to specific parts of the book.
Amazon deleted Orwell books from Kindle on July 17 after finding its electronic editions were pirated.
