Sound Transit plans more ticket machines

Sound Transit will add two more ticket-vending machines this week at Tukwila International Boulevard Station, where riders boarding the new Link light-rail trains have often been waiting in line.

Sound Transit will add two more ticket-vending machines this week at Tukwila International Boulevard Station, where riders boarding the new Link light-rail trains have often been waiting in line.

Not only are there only two ticket machines for now, but the Seattle area's complicated transit-fare policies make it hard for new customers to make their selections quickly. Transit staff have stood by the machines in several stations to offer guidance since the 14-mile train to Seattle opened July 18.

On Saturday, workers accepted cash by hand in Tukwila to "help keep people moving," said spokesman Bruce Gray. A Sounders FC soccer game drew "very big crowds" at the Tukwila and Stadium train stations, he said.
