FORT LEWIS, Wash. —

The mother of a 33-year-old woman shot to death while working at a kiosk in the Fort Lewis Post Exchange told The News Tribune of Tacoma the man who killed her was a former boyfriend.

The 59-year-old Lakewood man, a retired soldier, then fatally shot himself in the head. The Army has not officially released names or a motive in Wednesday's shooting.

The FBI is investigating with the Army Criminal Investigation Command.

The dead woman's mother told The News Tribune she had left him seven months ago but he wouldn't give her up and had threatened to kill himself. She leaves two children, ages 10 and 14.
