Brothers of different stripes

A royal white Bengal tiger cub clutches the leg of a Cougar Mountain Zoo employee Friday. The animal and his brother, born in Tucson, Ariz., six weeks ago, arrived at the zoo July 2. Approximately 1,400 to 1,800 Bengals remain in the wild, according to general curator Robyn Barfoot.

Cougar Mountain Zoo on Wednesday will introduce to the public its two newest arrivals — a pair of 8-week-old Bengal tiger cubs.
The cubs — 16- and 18-pound brothers — will be on display in the outdoor nursery for about 20 minutes, beginning at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., zoo officials said. Visitors will be asked to help name the cubs.
They're cute, but don't be fooled.
"They have claws. They have teeth. They have a stubborn personality," said Peter Rittler, development director for the Issaquah zoo. "... They can express themselves by biting and clawing when they don't like the direction of the day."
The facility also is home to a pair of 2-year-old Bengals, a royal white and a golden.
