Saturday, July 18, is the opening ceremony for Seattle's Link light-rail line. Rides are free this weekend. Here's everything you need to know to join the celebration.
Today
Ribbon-cutting ceremony: 8:20 a.m., Mount Baker station.
Avoid driving: Parking is limited to neighborhood streets near stations.
Free rides: 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Stations will have entertainment.
Sunday
Free rides: 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Stations will have entertainment.
Special bus service
One-way train rides advised: At Tukwila and Westlake, all passengers must leave the train. Riders can wait in line for a return trip or take special Metro buses. Some buses will stop at all Link stations; some are express.
Metro buses: No buses will travel in the Downtown Seattle Transit Tunnel because of the crowds. Buses will make stops near the tunnel entrances.
