Four homes caught fire when fireworks that were lit Saturday on 163rd Avenue Southeast in Covington ignited juniper bushes. The flames spread from one nearby house to three others.

No one was injured in the blazes. Firefighters from Kent and Maple Valley responded at 6 p.m. and doused the flames.

Firefighters quickly extinguished flames on the roofs of two houses on the 25400 block of 163rd Avenue Southeast, according to the Kent Fire Department. Two other houses were more badly damaged as fires spread into their attics.

The person responsible for starting the fire was cited by Covington police for discharging legal fireworks in a dangerous manner.
