Flying Dragons open Lake Union Wooden Boat Festival

Above: Members of the Seattle Flying Dragon Boat Club paddle as they pull a wakeboarder with their 45-foot Chinese dragon boat Saturday morning in Lake Union. The event opened the 33rd annual Lake Union Wooden Boat Festival at the Center for Wooden Boats at Lake Union Park.
Left: Anne Kagi, 27, gives a thumbs up as 20 club paddlers pull her with the Chinese dragon boat. On her first try, Kagi wakeboarded for 42.42 seconds for 100 meters. On another attempt, she wakeboarded for 57.05 seconds for 212 meters.
The Festival: The Lake Union Wooden Boat Festival continues today, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. More information, including schedules, is at www.cwb.org. Attendance is free, though a donation is encouraged.
