Stopped motorist hurts officer, flees

A Seattle police officer was injured early Saturday when he was dragged by a car driven by a man stopped for reckless driving.

A Seattle police officer was injured early Saturday when he was dragged by a car driven by a man stopped for reckless driving.

The officer pulled over a blue Honda into a parking lot just before 2 a.m., according to a police account of the incident.

The officer got out of his car at the lot just south of First Avenue and Lenora Street and approached the Honda, which then sped past the officer but was blocked in by another police car.

The Honda struck the second patrol car, and the officer ran up and grabbed the driver to try to prevent him from driving off.

But the driver reversed the car, dragging the officer about 50 feet until the Honda struck a parked car.

The man in the Honda then drove off and was at large Saturday.

The officer, who complained of back pain, was taken to a hospital for examination and then sent home.
