3.7 quake under Whidbey Island
A minor earthquake with a magnitude 3.7 occurred at 5:09 a.m. Wednesday under Whidbey Island.
Scientists have upgraded the size of a small quake at Whidbey Island.
It was first reported as a magnitude 3.0, but further analysis at the University of Washington seismology lab shows it was a 3.7.
The quake at 5:09 a.m. Wednesday was centered about two miles southeast of Coupeville at a depth of 36 miles.
A dispatcher in Oak Harbor for the Island County sheriff's office says it received several calls from people reporting they felt the quake, but there are no reports of damage.
Callers to Seattle TV and radio stations say they were awakened by shaking that rattled windows and pictures on the walls. One man who says he felt the quake while sitting in a chair says his cat gave him a funny look and ran down the hall.
