Man stabbed early today in U-District bar
Seattle police arrested a man at a University District bar early today in connection with a stabbing of another patron during a drunken fight that "may have some bias overtones," a police spokeswoman said.
Seattle police arrested a man at a University District bar early today in connection with a stabbing of another patron during a drunken fight that "may have some bias overtones," a police spokeswoman said.
Police say the stabbing occurred shortly after midnight today at a bar in the 4300 block of University Way Northeast.
"Both the victim and the suspect were extremely intoxicated," Reneé Witt said. "According to the victim and witnesses, the suspect was repeatedly uttering racial epithets in trying to incite the fight."
Police arrived shortly after the altercation broke out, Witt said, and quickly identified the suspect and arrested him.
The suspect is now being held in the King County Jail for investigation of felony assault, and he could face an additional malicious harassment charge, Seattle police spokesman Renee Witt said.
Meanwhile, the victim of the alleged assault was hospitalized early today.
"He suffered two slashes to his face and was also stabbed in his left arm," Witt said.
Seattle fire medics treated the man at the scene before taking him to Harborview Medical Center. Witt said she did not know the man's current condition.
Seattle Police weren't able to immediately provide details about the two men, including their ages or race, this morning, Witt said.
