Tukwila police shoot man after K-9 dog is stabbed

A man who stabbed a police K-9 dog was shot by a Tukwila officer during an altercation near a supermarket.

TUKWILA — A man who stabbed a police K-9 dog was shot by a Tukwila officer during an altercation near a supermarket.

Tukwila police spokesman Mike Murphy said the injured man was taken to Seattle's Harborview Medical Center after the 8 p.m. shooting Monday. The spokesman said the man had been threatening officers who were trying to detain him. Murphy said he didn't know the man's condition or how many times he'd been shot.

Tukwila Trading Co. employees called police after the man threatened them with a knife. The man fled to a nearby apartment complex, where the police dog apprehended the man, who then stabbed the dog. Murphy said the police dog's injury appeared serious.
