Tukwila

A man who stabbed a police K-9 dog was shot by a Tukwila officer during an altercation near a supermarket.

Tukwila police spokesman Mike Murphy said the injured man was taken to Seattle's Harborview Medical Center after the 8 p.m. shooting Monday. Murphy said the man had been threatening officers trying to detain him, adding he didn't know the man's condition or how many times he was shot.

Tukwila Trading Co. employees called police after the man threatened them with a knife. He fled to a nearby apartment complex, where the police dog stopped him; he then stabbed the dog. Murphy said the dog's injury appears serious.
