King County to cut 150 trees along levees

King County plans to cut down about 150 trees along seven levees as it gets ready to make flood repairs.

King County plans to cut down about 150 trees along seven levees as it gets ready to make flood repairs.

Workers this week will clear the trees to comply with federal regulations. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers say the trees are larger in diameter than rules allow and their roots could affect the stability of the levees.

Trees will be removed along the Green, Snoqualmie and Raging rivers. The county will plant more than 600 new trees elsewhere to make up for the loss.
