Elderly pedestrian struck by vehicle in Seattle

A pedestrian in his early 90s was struck by a vehicle about 4:45 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Northeast 97th Street and Fifth Avenue Northeast in the Maple Leaf area and a few blocks south of Northgate Mall.

A pedestrian in his early 90s was struck by a pickup about 4:45 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Northeast 97th Street and Fifth Avenue Northeast in the Maple Leaf area and a few blocks south of Northgate Mall.

The man was rushed by medic unit to Harborview Medical Center with what appeared to be life-threatening head injuries, Seattle Fire Department spokeswoman Helen Fitzpatrick reported.

Seattle Police spokesman Jeff Kappel said police were investigating the accident.
