Adopt a cat in June, fee will be waived

June is Adopt-a-Cat month, and it couldn't come soon enough for The Humane Society, which will waive its adoption fee for adult cats through June 30 for people who donate cat food to the organization's food bank.

June is Adopt-a-Cat month, and it couldn't come soon enough for The Humane Society, which will waive its adoption fee for adult cats through June 30 for people who donate cat food to the organization's food bank.

"Kitten season is under way, and as you can imagine, that means not only more cats who need homes, but also that our adult cats have to wait longer for homes," said Humane Society spokeswoman Amber Yoo.

The normal adoption fee varies from $25-$200 depending on the age of the cat. It includes surgery to spay or neuter the felines as well as microchipping, vaccinations, intestinal worming and a certificate for a complimentary exam by a King County veterinarian.
