Deadly ricin confirmed in Everett home
Everett police say traces of the deadly toxin ricin have been found in samples taken from a man's home and in his wife's urine. On Monday, bail for 48-year-old Jeffery C. EVERETT — Everett police say traces of the deadly toxin ricin have been found in samples taken from a man's home and in his wife's urine.
On Monday, bail for 48-year-old Jeffery C. Marble was increased to $1 million. The man was jailed Saturday for investigation of first-degree assault and unlawful imprisonment.
FBI agents have joined Everett police investigating a case that began with a domestic-violence call June 1. According to a court affidavit from Everett police Detective Tim O'Hara, the evidence is being sent to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for confirmation of the ricin findings.
The woman told police that her husband beat her for hours with a two-pound dumbbell. Their teenage son eventually came home and found her injured and her husband unresponsive. Marble was hospitalized for five days for unexplained reasons, then booked into jail when he was released on Saturday.
Court papers say the man told investigators he loved his wife and had been looking for poison to eradicate moles from his yard.
