Skillet Street Food trailer shut down by health department

Public Health — Seattle & King County closed one of the Airstream trailers operated by Skillet Street Food, the bistro-style mobile restaurant, after finding several health code violations.

The trailer, which was parked at First Avenue South and South Atlantic Street on Monday, had not received a permit from the department. Upon further inspection, the department found several other issues — including no water in the hand-washing area, no cold storage for food and no arrangements for restrooms — and shut it down.

Skillet is still operating out of its licensed trailer.

The department posted the reasons for closure on its Web site: failure to operate with a valid food business permit or plan approval, potentially hazardous foods at unsafe temperatures, inadequate facilities to control temperatures of potentially hazardous goods, nonoperating hand-washing facilities and a lack of available hot water.
