The marine air that's bringing cooler temperatures to Western Washington blew in with gusty winds that toppled trees Thursday night and knocked out power in the Puget Sound area.
After two days of record highs, the National Weather Service said Western Washington temperatures should be normal through much of next week.
Forecasters called for another warm and sunny day Friday in Eastern Washington with cooler temperatures for the weekend.
The Weather Service says record highs were set Thursday of 91 at Sea-Tac Airport, 92 at Olympia and 84 in Bellingham.
The Thursday night winds caught many people by surprise. They knocked out power for about 12,000 Puget Sound Energy customers and 5,800 Seattle City Light customers.
Seattle City Light said the utility's outages were in Rainier Beach, Olympic View and West Seattle.
The West Seattle outage affected about 2,900 customers.
The Olympic View outage affected about 1,900 customers.
The Rainier Beach outage affected about 1,000 customers.
Puget Sound Energy says up to 10,000 customers lost power in Thurston, Pierce and South King counties. There were also spot outages in Snoqualmie, Bellevue and Issaquah.
